First meeting of the Work-Group for the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue in Romania – Bucharest, January 14th 2008
Initiated by the Consultancy Centre for European Cultural Programmes, the work-group will try to promote the objectives of the 2008 – European Year of Intercultural Dialogue in Romania, whilst at the same time involve as many different Romanian organizations as possible in the achievement of the objectives of the Programme. As coordinator of this structure, the CCECP works hand-in-hand with the Romanian Ministry of Culture and Religious Affairs, the Department for Interethnic Relations, the Education 2000+ Centre, the National Agency for Community Programmes in the field of Education and Vocational Training (ANPCDEFP), the Intercultural Institute from Timişoara, the Ethnocultural Diversity Resource Center, as well with the Commissioner for “Sibiu – 2007 European Capital of Culture.
Activities of the first meeting focused on sketching the calendar of events for 2008 under the framework of 2008 – European Year of Intercultural Dialogue, but also on defining the conditions that need to be fulfilled by any other organization that wishes to develop its project in 2008 under the framework of the Programme. These conditions are going to be communicated shortly to Romanian organizations. The initiatives will be available on www.dialogue2008.eu, alongside the calendar of the workgroup, which is going to publicly released at the beginning of February.

Launching Event for 2008 Campaign – European Year of the Intercultural Dialogue in Romania
On December 5, 2007, during “Interferences” Theatre Festival performed in Cluj-Napoca, Mr. Gabor Tompa, Theatre and Festival Manager, had announced the Romanian launching of the Program 2008 – European Year of the Intercultural Dialogue. Mr. Vladimir Simon, manager of the Consultancy Centre for the European Cultural Programs, organization assigned to be the coordinator for all the actions to be performed according to the Program schedule, talk about the significance of the event.
“The promotion of the intercultural dialogue represents one of the European priorities in its attempt to define its cultural identity and to create communication paths between European citizens as representatives of every country and community. Intercultural dialogue, common cultural heritage defending, unity in diversity, are the main themes of the Cultural Convention adopted by the European Council, soon after the World War II, in 1954-1955. Half a century later, the year 2008 is set to represent by specific actions the European construction based on spiritual values exchange idea. As a member state, Romania is a part of that process. Together with other countries, it has proposed a national project, and it has launched through Ministry of Culture and Religious Affairs, a supporting fund for intercultural dialogue projects. “Interferences” Festival in Cluj has already settled a higher standard.”

Lansarea programului 2008 – Anul European al Dialogului Intercultural în România
Adrian Iorgulescu, ministrul Culturii şi Cultelor, a lansat în cadrul unei conferinţe de presă organizate la sediul Ministerului Programul 2008 – Anul European al Dialogului Intercultural (AEDI). Cu această ocazie a fost menţionată şi existenţa unei strategii naţionale realizate cu sprijinul Centrului de Consultanţă pentru Programe Culturale Europene, strategie care va fi implementată pe parcursul lui 2008 prin intermediul unei campanii de informare realizate la nivel naţional, a proiectului naţional PUZZLE recent aprobat de Comisia Europeană şi a altor iniţiative independente, care vor fi desfăşurate sub egida Anului.
Ministerul Culturii şi Cultelor a lansat la data de 7 noiembrie 2007 Agenda sa Culturală pentru 2008, prin care se oferă prioritate de finanţare acolo proiecte care vizează protejarea diversităţii culturale şi promovarea dialogului interculturale. Launching of the Program 2008 – The Year of the Intercultural Dialogue in Romania
Mr. Adrian Iorgulescu, Minister of Culture and Religious Affairs, has launched the Program 2008 – European Year of the Intercultural Dialogue (EYID); during a press conference held upon the Ministry headquarters. On this occasion, there also has been mentioned the existence of a national strategy accomplished with the support of the Consultancy Centre for European Cultural Programs. This strategy will be implemented alongside 2008 throughout an information campaign accomplished on a national level in what the PUZZLE national project is concerned. This project has been recently approved by the European Commission. Other independent initiatives performed within EYID will be revealed.
On November 7, 2007, the Ministry of Culture and Religious Affairs has launched its cultural Agenda for 2008. The Ministry will offer financing priority to those projects which deals with cultural diversity protection and intercultural dialogue promotion. Additional information on www.cultura.ro.
